Hi Junior anglers; lets start with the most important part of fishing!

FISHING SAFETY:

Before going on a fishing trip you need to make sure are you staying safe. Watch the news or read the wheather report in the news paper to find out what the wheather might be. If it is going to be lightening and raining you don't want to go out on the water. If you are on the water and you see lighting or hear thunder go back inside. remember that lightening is attracted to water. If you are fishing on shore, don't stand too close to the water, I learned this by myself, you could possibly fall in. Stay a few feet away from the water. If you fish in a boat please don't ever try to go on the water alone. Always make sure you have a parent or guardian on the water with you.

There are a few things you need to take with you when you are on the water. ***Life jackets, whistle, paddles, compass, hat, sunscreen insect repellent, two- way radio or cell phone, drinking water, rope, and just in case, a rain coat or poncho, and a multi-tool instrument.

BASS TACKLE: What bait should be in your tackle box? hooks sinkers, fishing rods and reels.
First let me talk about which bait you should have in your tackle box. First is a plastic worm. It's best to get this bait just because you can use this bait just about anytime. The color worm you should choose depends on the water you have. Another bait you should have in your tackle box is a spinner bait. Spinner bait have metal pieces on it that are usually in different shapes. these metal pieces hang off of a skinny bar. The spinner bait also has strips of rubber hanging down from the head of the bait, this is called a skirt. The type of spinner bait you should get is the one that has the metal pieces(blades) that look like a leaf, this type is called a colorado leaf spinner bait. The last bait I think you should have in your tackle box is a crank bait. This bait is round and has a plastic bill on it. The crank bait usually comes with built in rattles.

BASS FACTS: Did you Know that the large mouth bass is the number one game fish in the U.S.? The large mouth bass is known for it's large mouth . They also put up a good fight when you hook them. You identify the largemouth bass by looking at the stripe that runs down their side. Another way to identify them is to look at their jaw. If the jaw extends pass their eye it is a largemouth bass. This species of fish live in just about all freshwater across the globe. There is one thing bass love to do, and that is to eat. Largemouth bass will eat crawfish, minnows, plankton, frogs, snakes, lizards, bluegill or sunfish, and in some cases small birds.
